I have run a variety of groups including:
healthy minds: to enable young people manage their mental health.
This focused on exploring and managing their anxiety, eating healthily, sleep hygiene and self care.
Beating exam stress: firstly understanding the sources of stress, then providing the young people with tools to manage this stress, to achieve their best results.
I have run sessions on a variety of topics, including the following.
Play Therapy
This session is for fellow counsellors and for others working with children and young people, in other capacities, including youth workers and teaching assistants. Giving attendees the skills to use play to enable children and young people to tell their stories in a safe and contained way.
Working creatively with clients for counsellors.
Using creative means to enable clients to explore their world, thoughts, feelings and issues in ways beyond assessable words.
Mindfullness in the therapeutic relationship (Oct 2019)
Working Creatively in Therapeutic Settings (Feb 2020)
Supervision from a Humanistic Perspective (March 2020)
This workshop was delivered to a group of level 6 supervision students and it offered them an opportunity to reflect on the similarities and differences between supervising from a Humanistic or Psychodynamic perspective.
Coping with Adversity (June 2021)
I delivered this workshop following the first two COVID 19 related lockdowns to provide support to teaching support to teaching staff in relation to anxiety, stress and worklife balance, depression, berevement following COVID, relationships and child mental health (pupils and own children). This was an experiential workshop offering teaching staff the space to talk about their own experinces of these issues and gaining new ways of coping and managing with them.
I offer counselling to Individuals (from the age of 4), Groups, Couples and Students.
My approach is Integrative Humanistic although I call on Solution Focused and CBT based tools and techniques if and when necessary.
My work encompasses in-person and online sessions.
I offer supervision (using the seven eyed model) to individuals and organisations.
I believe just as is the case in the counsellor/client work, effective supervision at its foundation is all about building a strong relationship where the supervisee can feel safe to explore, experiment, learn, reflect and develop.
My own theoretical approach, model of supervision and self awareness play a vital part in the process of supervision. In the same way that clients do, each supervisee requires a different approach from me and I therefore endeavour to be attuned to each individuals supervision needs and enable them to grow and find their own unique voice as a counsellor
I offer healing combining Reiki, Crystals, Essential Oils and Singing Bowls.
I can also attune others to Usui Reiki Levels 1, 2 and Master.
Depending on the client's needs, I can combine healing and counselling in a one and a half hour session.
